Cookie, our brave girl, is now less afraid; she takes food from your hand, and we can almost say she enjoys being petted. She feels comfortable near people, but for now she doesn’t want collars or leashes; she needs a bit of handling work, but with how cheerful she is, we’re sure that with some nice walks in the countryside with us she’ll start tolerating the leash.
Cookie’s whole body is irritated, with a lot of itching and many little sores, and, in addition to lichenification, she has hyperkeratosis, an excessive thickening of the outer skin layer. She had such large plaques that they covered half of her body.
The pressure sores on her hips are very deep.
She has let us treat her and touch her; she didn’t love the anti-flea sprays that much, but nothing that a good can of wet food couldn’t fix.
She struck us as a little dog with huge potential, and we can’t wait to see her strong and enjoying a whole new life.
