Born: 2016 – Breed: Alaska Malamute – Female
Hypothyroidism.
Pika, an Alaskan Malamute, was born in 2016. Her story is very sad: she lived in a home with her owner and her husband. This beauty has one of those heart-wrenching stories, the kind that’s hard to even explain how it could have happened…
She always lived in what seemed like a normal family, but one day everything suddenly turned dark. There was a case of gender violence, and the husband killed the woman. He threw Pika off the balcony, and she came out unharmed… But the nightmare didn’t end there—he locked Pika in with her owner’s body and set the house on fire. It was the firefighters who rescued her from the blaze, where she had stayed by her deceased owner’s side.
What a horror—it’s hard for us even to tell it.
Pika was a bit distant when she first arrived with us, seeking out a kennel to sit and rest in. But over the days, she’s shown us that she needs us; that, even if not all the time, she wants to be around us and get some cuddles. She looks for us with her eyes and follows us around the shelter.
We’ll give her all the time she needs until she feels happy—or until she finds a super family that loves her just as she is.
